Yesterday at 6:25 pm a Tornado touch down was reported in the Pingree Grove & Countryside Fire District.
The first emergency call was dispatched at 6:30 pm at 9N811 Bowes Bend Dr. Pingree Grove & Countryside units were dispatched for numerous reports of damage. There were also reports of the tornado splitting into two tornados.
The damage extended from the touchdown area East of Kendall Rd to the East end of the Fire District at Bowes Rd and Corron Rd. The path of the tornado was in Plato Township and it traveled from East of Kendall Rd East crossing Dittman Rd, Muirhead Rd, Bowes Bend Rd (Twice), Crawford Rd, Old Mill Ct, Bowes Rd (North of Whispering Springs Ln) and went into the South Elgin Fire District.
There were many trees down, damage to power poles, and power lines (Including an area power outage), damage to buildings, including roofs off buildings, other roof damage, damage to siding, trees on buildings trees and tree limbs into buildings, trees down in the roadway and a number of cars and a boat turned over, and other miscellaneous damage. There were no Injuries.
Fire units were on the scene until 10:00 pm. The scene was turned over to OEM and the Kane County Sheriffs. Kane County Sheriffs remained in the area for Security.
