This morning at 6:58 am Pingree Grove & Countryside responded for an accident with injuries on Route 47, South of Plank Rd. While enroute units were notified that one person was unable to get out of his vehicle. The call was upgraded to an Extrication, On arrival personnel found a head-on two vehicle accident with Heavy Damage and one person pinned in a vehicle, and four other occupants out of a second vehicle. An on duty Kane County Sheriff in a County Vehicle was involved and was the occupant pinned in the Vehicle. A medical Helicopter was requested to the scene and a Mutual Aid Engine, Ambulance and Chief requested to the scene. Route 47 South of Plank Rd was closed and Plank Rd West of Rt 47 was closed for the Helicopter landing zone. Extrication of the patient was extended due to the Damage done to the Vehicle and the patients injuries. The patient was removed from the vehicle and transported to a Level One Trauma Center in the Medical Helicopter in Critical Condition. One other patient was transported to the Hospital in an Ambulance. Three other vehicle occupants signed medical releases. The Scene was turned over to the Illinois State Police. Plank Rd was closed for about 45 minutes and Rt 47 will be closed for an undetermined amount of time due to the on going investigation.
